Voibe features: what the AI dictation app can do
Voibe turns speaking into a system-wide input method: one hotkey dictates into any app, right at your cursor, about 5x faster than typing. That makes it an unusual kind of dictation software — there's no separate window to paste from; the words land in whatever field you're working in. On privacy there's an On-Device Mode that's fully local on Apple Silicon; on pace of development, the team shipped 11 releases between February and July 2026.
Dictation: hold a key — or go hands-free
Push-to-Talk means hold, speak, release — and the text is there. Hands-Free mode (since v2.14) covers longer stretches without holding anything, and Live Dictation (v2.20) shows the words in real time while you're still speaking; since v2.24 a cloud AI additionally formats the result. Your window and cursor position stay untouched — on the Mac and on Windows alike.
Privacy: On-Device Mode with zero uploads
On Apple Silicon, recognition runs entirely on the machine in On-Device Mode — neither audio nor text ever leaves it. That fits contracts, patient notes, and code: anywhere confidentiality isn't negotiable. Intel Macs and Windows use the cloud mode through a zero-retention provider. v2.25 added the dual engine — local and cloud — with automatic fallback between them. For teams with compliance requirements, that separation is often the deciding factor.
Developer Mode: code by voice
Developer Mode scans your workspace locally and writes file names, paths, and variable names in Cursor, VS Code, and Windsurf exactly as they're spelled in your project — identifiers stop getting mangled into ordinary words. Getting the app itself is covered on the download page.
Personal: custom vocabulary and Memory
Add your terms, names, and product spellings to the custom vocabulary once — from then on Voibe writes them correctly, with bulk editing since v2.18. Memory (v2.17) turns frequent snippets into shortcuts you call up with a single phrase. Smart punctuation fills in commas, periods, and paragraphs automatically, and since v2.23 you can also speak structure commands directly — “new paragraph”, “start list”, and the like.
Languages: dictate in 100+ languages
Since v2.14 (February 17, 2026) Voibe takes dictation in over 100 languages, with recognition built on Whisper-family models. Model updates ship regularly — the full history is in the changelog.
